A SUMMARY in ENGLISH

I am a man that has devoted this site to Feminism and Equality between the sexes. Except for this summary it is entirely in Swedish, and for the moment I have no intent to set up any English version.

The meaning of Equality is that nobody should be considered or treated as of lower value because of sex (and of course not because of race etc either...). Women should have the same possibilities and rights as men. And in other cases, that might be worse for men, men should have the same possibilities and rights. Of course there are some natural differencies between the sexes, but there is no need to excessively stress them or to invent differencies that are not there.

I do take a Feministic point of view as there are mainly women that are suppressed in our society (even if sometimes the opposite also can be). I do not too much mind all different types of Feminism that exist. They are simply mirrors of different aspects and problems in the attitudes beteween the sexes. Problems that not necessarily must be there, problems that makes life a burden to some people.

My way of seeing the Feminism is fairly simple. Let anyone have the possibility to search his/her own way of living - as far as it doesn't harm other people. As a result You might find that there are men that stand near what is traditionally seen as the female sphere as well as some women come close to the male area. Be that in working life, interests, feelings or any other way. That is quite OK. Noone should be looked down on, been estimated as of lower value.

Our society is in most parts dominated by men. Men have higher income (for equal jobs). In Sweden women are in mean at an 80% level of men's income. Men have attitudes toward women, often inadequate, as should women be in a sense inferior to men. Social roles are still conserved, even if less than in earlier decades.

Women today are to a high degree part of the working life outside their homes, but when early evening comes, their next work (in the household) has just begun. Not enough appreciated job with kitchen, cleaning, laundry and children. An unpaid work. An sometimes even a third job could appear: the ward of an elderly woman or man in the family.

It is statistically evident that women live longer than men, and that their husbands in mean are a few years older. That means that the woman often has to take care of her husband, when they come up in ages. The man might at last come in at a ward institution for professional aid. The man dies and the woman who now is in need of help has no one who cares for her daily living, unless she has got a daughter. The son is in his career, inable to be of any help. And so often also the daughter. So the woman herself comes to the public ward. Due to these differences about 3/4 of the population at the ward are women. That is what it often looks like for elderly people.

There are sometimes tough attitudes towards women. There are sometimes even brutal force and rapes. The attitudes, however innocent they look like, are of ultimate importance to the living. To the very climate between the sexes. In the long run it doesn't matter much what is expressed in laws as long as the attitudes are different.

Therefore it is important that men learn to see this, think over their own attitudes and tries to do something about it. To me there is nothing natural in seeing relations as a sort of fight, when there should be mutual understanding and cooperation instead.

To take a travel into women's thoughts, dreams, feelings and real life should be an amazingly exciting travel for any man.

That's was this all is about.
